Hello!

Before we get into the whole Grounded story and what it - I, stand for, here's a super short background story.

I had started this "thing" about 8 years ago, making crafts and artwork for friends and family with another name which I felt didn't quite represent what I was doing now and what drove me now. I was now more aware of my self and of the connection between humans and earth and of the connection among us humans. I was aware that the common factor was Spirit, that deep within us, we were all connected by Spirit. After a few days of soul searching, the word Grounded came to me. It felt warm! It clicked! but I wanted to be totally sure of it so I researched it quite a bit and settled on the name. Why though? What is it that I believe in, that I portray in my Pot art + Plants that fits into this word "Grounded"?

I will share this in a few parts..

I am passionate about the earth, about Mother Earth, the Life she supports. Can you imagine the number of living things on earth??? It's crazy! So the first reason is quite simple really, to honor the Earth for Grounding us, providing our very basic need of life.

In the very beginning, we humans lived among the other living things in the wild. We were one with nature, and I would like to believe that that simple life was full of LIFE! It was abundant, giving, loving, light, stress free and care free (unless, offcourse, predators :) ) because there was an ever present sense of connectedness (I made that up) with Nature. And now with all the things we've built ourselves, our "civilization", we've lost that connected feeling with Earth and just take take take from her. As a result there's scarcity, stress, loads of worries and selfishness.

It's not easy to find a connection to nature in your immediate surrounding and you have to seek it out in parks, forest reserves, game parks, oceans, rural areas and so on. Wouldn't it be nice to feel the connection right where you are? Most of us live or work in high-rises where all around us is a concrete jungle. It has been researched that having a plant with you can reduce your stress levels. How? It reconnects you to nature! That's our inclination as humans and that's why we always feel the need to go somewhere to breathe and unwind, seeking out places that have a lot of natural surroundings.

I believe that the early humans were also very artsy and expressed themselves through song, dance, drawings, body art and jewelry. They celebrated, communicated and worshiped whatever deities they had through art. So, art is also a way of connecting with each other and with nature. It awakens something in us, it excites us, it moves us, it makes us feel; and we need to feel if we want to reconnect to nature. Many of us have blocked this "feeling"side of us because it seems weak and instead use our heads for everything. Feeling is natural and allowing ourselves to feel connects us as humans and us with nature.

So, this is reason 1 for the name Grounded. I use my art on the pots and the lovely plant in it to help you breathe in this life full of stress and to reconnect with nature.

This is our mantra: Re-connecting you with Mother Nature.

Stay Grounded!

Asante,

Bree
